As a biotechnologist, you will be trained to apply advanced science and engineering to some of the world's leading issues through alternative energy sources, safer plant- and animal-based products, management of crop damage, reduced production costs and more. Your major's courses will go beyond general biology to include genetics and genomics, microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences and related disciplines. Youll also get hands-on experience with molecular techniques in state-of-the-art research labs on-campus and gain real-world experience as an intern with a biotechnology-related company.
