Biology is the study of life and all the wondrous, intriguing, and baffling things that give our planet its unique character. Their biological science students learn about cell structure and function, how cells work together to build organs and organisms, how diseases spread and innovative ways to cure them, and how living things adapt to survive. Biology is a broad natural science that encompasses other niche areas such as genetics, biochemistry, and microbiology. Those who aspire to work in medicine go on to complete a master's or doctorate degree, while still other biology graduates find enjoyable work in environmental science, biotechnology, laboratory research, medical technology, food production and nutrition, and education.<br><br>Whether your career goal is to become a field ecologist, a neuroscientist, a molecular biologist, or pursue a medical career, UIC is the place to start.<br><br>The Department of Biological Sciences boasts many talented faculty who teach courses and welcome undergraduates into their labs who are seeking research experience.
