学术英语课程是希望进入大学的本科或研究生课程的学生的选择。学生可以在秋季和春季参加为期16周的学术英语课程。每周由合格的ESL讲师讲授20个小时的讲课。阅读/写作和交流课程在周一至周五的上午举行，而语言实验室则在周一至周四的下午举行。IELI课程使用学术内容进行语言教学。为了获得IELI的结业证书，学生必须通过总共9门课程。课程安排取决于部门安排测试的结果。所有新生必须参加入学考试。通过参加分班考试并获得足够高的分数来开始更高级的课程，学生可以“测试”一门课程。2018年夏季-10周课程-6月4日至8月1
The Academic English Program is the choice of students wishing to enter a university undergraduate or graduate program. Students may enroll in the 7-week Academic English Program summer, fall and spring. <br><br>Each week consists of 20 hours of instruction taught by qualified ESL instructors. Academic Reading, Writing, & Vocabulary and Communication & Grammar classes meet Monday through Friday (no Friday classes in summer) in the mornings, and the Pronunciation & Conversation classes meet in the afternoons (Tuesdays and Thursdays, typically). The IELI curriculum uses academic content for language instruction. <br><br>There are 6 total course levels students must pass in order to get a certificate of completion for IELI. Course placement is based according to the results of the IELI placement tests and/or Doling, IELTS, TOEFL Scores. All new students must take placement tests. Students can ''test out'' of a course by taking the placement exam and earning a high enough score to begin more advanced levels.<br><br>Students must earn a ''C'' or higher in their courses to progress in the Academic English Program. Students completing Levels V and VI of the program by earning a letter grade of ''B'' (80) or higher will receive a certificate stating their completion of the Academic English Program and use their certificate in place of the language requirement for admission to MSU Texas.
