Beginner: This course is for students who do not meet the entry level for the Elementary course. Entry - Below IELTS 3.5 or as assessed by AOE. Elementary to Pre-Intermediate: This course aims to provide students with the general English language skills required to engage effectively in routine forms of social interaction such as maintaining a conversation on a topic of general interest, writing a short informal letter on a topic of mutual interest and giving advice on simple procedures. Entry - IELTS 3.5 (minimum 3.0 for writing) or AOE General English (Beginner) or as assessed by AOE. Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate: This course aims to provide students with the general English language skills required to engage effectively in advanced forms of social interaction and to effectively negotiate meaning in more complex contexts. Entry - IELTS 4.5 (minimum 4.0 for writing) or AOE General English (Pre-Intermediate) or as assessed by AOE. Advanced: This course aims to provide students with the general English skills to engage and communicate effectively in a broad range of contexts such as formal, informal and academic registers, have a deeper appreciation and understanding of the cultural dimension of contexts of language interaction. Entry - IELTS 5.5 (minimum 5.0 for writing) or AOE General English (Upper-Intermediate) or as assessed by AOE.
