In a media dominated culture, you are never far away from a story. Combining English literature and contemporary media, this course will show you how our society uses narratives from the 18th century to the modern day to make sense of itself and the wider world. Studying English and media alongside one another will give you a thorough knowledge of how to research, critique and present information, from a gothic novel to a Guardian blog. Exploring the social and historical backgrounds to Shakespeare's plays, Victorian novels, and contemporary literature will also give you an insight into how today's media portray gender, race and class.
