Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the surgical team. They work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel providing patient care to the surgical patient. Members of the surgical team are responsible for the three phases of surgical patient care. The surgical technologists? primary role is to handle the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. They have the knowledge and understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
