Radiography utilizes ionizing radiation (X-rays) to obtain detailed images of human anatomy for the purpose of diagnosing and treating a wide variety of medical conditions. Radiographers are vital members of the healthcare team, who work in hospitals and clinics performing imaging procedures including:<br><br>General imaging (x-rays of chest, abdomen, skeletal system, etc.)<br>CT scans (highly detailed 3-D images of the body)<br>Mammography (images to detect breast cancer)<br>Mobile imaging (imaging performed bedside on very ill patients)<br>Fluoroscopy (dynamic moving images acquired for special procedures and in operating rooms)<br>The Radiography program at UPEI is a unique learning opportunity that combines hands-on learning in hospitals across Prince Edward Island with in-depth study of various subjects including human anatomy, pathology, medical physics, and patient care.
