Admission to the PhD program in Health Sciences requires completion of a master's degree in a health-related profession. The program admissions committee will make recommendations to the Graduate School based on an assessment of each applicant's academic achievement and potential. Applicants must apply through the Graduate School, submitting an application form and the following supporting materials:

Transcripts according to the requirements of the Graduate School
Applicants from countries where English is not the first language are required to demonstrate English proficiency.
Three letters of recommendation from individuals qualified to assess the applicant's potential for doctoral work
Evaluation from students' recommenders for academic and professional abilities using a structured survey.
Personal statement describing career aspirations, potential research interests and faculty mentors, and research experiences, to assess candidate's writing skills.
Other evidence of relevant personal or professional experience

If you did not attend high school in the United States and your most recent institution of learning was not located in an English-speaking country, UTEP requires you to provide evidence of English-language proficiency. Minimum score 550 on the paper-based (pBT) TOEFL. Some programs require 600 or better. Minimum score of 79 on the internet-based test (iBT), and minimum of 6.5 on IELTS.
