Evidence-based and data-driven decision making increasingly characterize operational and funding decisions in the healthcare sector. As a result, there is a growing demand for employees with sound data analytic skills.This program enables students to become proficient in the practices and techniques used in the employment of healthcare informatics. Students learn how to leverage health data, which anticipates and responds to organizations’ needs. They acquire skills to analyze quantitative and qualitative information to help facilitate health care delivery, patient safety and health, and decision making within and across healthcare facilities and organizations. A focus on the blending of three skills areas: technical, inter-professional and “soft” interpersonal skills, makes this program distinct.Upon graduation, job vacancies are available in northern Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. Graduates can find employment in a range of positions that include project manager, health information clerk, quality officer, quality improvement coordinator, health records administrator and performance improvement analyst.
