Must first be admitted to the PharmD program at the UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy.
Must hold a BS or a BA degree in one of the sciences. such as Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, etc.
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
A Graduate Record Examination (GRE) minimum of 300 (verbal and quantitative on the general test) and 3.5 on the analytical section.
Prior research experience, although not required, is strongly encouraged.
TOEFL score of at least 213/79 on the computer-based/Internet- based exam or an IELTS score of 6.5

The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy has developed a unique, integrated PharmDPhD Dual Degree Program for highly qualified students. This program combines the existing PharmD with the PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Students who are accepted into the program are expected to pursue research in pharmaceutical sciences during the fall, spring and the summer of the first, second and third academic year of the PharmD. program. Upon graduation from the PharmD program, the student is expected to transition full time into the PhD program.The objective of the PharmDPhD dual degree program at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is to train highly qualified pharmaceutical scientists for academic, industrial and governmental positions and increase the number of highly trained clinician-researchers that can operate at the interface between basic research and clinical settings to facilitate faster translational innovations into the patient.
