Chemistry is a very hands-on field. At Saint Francis, we provide you with lab experience, research opportunities and internships that give you hands-on experience at the undergraduate-level. A chemist is a problem-solving scientist, whose work may range from helping to create a safer environment, becoming a medical professional, to addressing future energy needs. The field of chemistry offers a wide array of career possibilities. Chemists are employed in government, industry, education, medicine, and private institutions. If you love math and science this critical-thinking career path may be for you. Pre-pharmacy students enrolled at Saint Francis spend 3 or 4 years at SFU prior to transferring to pharmacy school at Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy or Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Students receive their Saint Francis degree after they complete their first year of pharmacy school. Students may also choose to apply to other pharmacy schools.
