An overall grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for college course work is required to be eligible to apply.
Students enter KU's health information management program after accumulating two (2) years of college course work of at least 60 hours to qualify for KU graduation with a total of 120 hours. The courses listed below must be included as part of the total. The KU course numbers are provided as a guide. No grade lower than a C is accepted in any prerequisite course.
Prerequisite Review: Verify all prerequisite course work will be completed by the fall semester start of the program.
Letter of Intent: Please write a 1-2 page letter, double-spaced, using a common font (e.g. Arial, Times New Roman), and save it as a Word, PDF, or rich-text format document to upload with the application.
Resume: Indicate your education and work background, honors, memberships in organizations, service to the community outside of school-related activities, and any other information that you might deem important for the committee to consider.
References: Applicants will enter the names and contact information (including email addresses) of two (2) individuals into the online application.
Transcripts: Arrange to have one official copy of each transcript from every college and university that you have attended sent directly to KU Medical Center.
Submit English proficiency test scores (dependent upon score level, scores are used to either determine English proficiency or to estimate students' placement in an appropriate level of ESL courses, as needed) 6.5 or above on the IELTS (with no subscore lower than 6.0). 79 or above on the TOEFL iBT (with no subscore lower than 18). 60 or above on the TOEFL paper-based test (with no subscore lower than 18)
