Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology are exciting and rewarding professions consisting of professionals who provide services to individuals with communications disorders. There are many individuals with some type of communication disability. Some persons may have difficulty producing speech sounds, expressing and understanding language, or difficulty hearing due to conditions that are either present at birth or acquired via diseases or accidents. People of all ages experience these disorders. Speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists are all specialists trained at the graduate level to help improve the quality of life of persons with communication and swallowing disorders.<br>The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology offers a course of study leading to a Master of Science Degree in Speech and Hearing Science. The Master of Science degree can be obtained on-campus in a traditional format or on-line through a distance education format.Certification and licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist requires a master's degree as entry level. The Speech and Hearing Science major has a curriculum that leads to certification by the American Speech Hearing Language Association (ASHA), and licensure by the State of Tennessee's Department of Health and/or Department of Education.<br><br>Credits - 47<br>Duration- 5 Sem
