Through this degree at the University of Utah, students will discover, refine, and facilitate the practical strategies that can assist individuals, communities, and societies in adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyles. The program is founded on the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) competencies, ensuring that students are taught the skills necessary to practice health education in any area: learn to write grants, organize communities for action, and develop health education and information materials and programs. This program offers classes in: stress management, death and dying, chronic diseases, human sexuality, prevention practices, health behavior, health communication, global health, medical terminology, patient education, reiliency, community health, and more.<br><br>Career Opportunities<br><br>Students with a degree in Health Promotion and Education are eligible to work in many healthcare fields. You can work in a hospital, non-profit organization, health department or worksite as a health educator developing disease management and prevention programs. Students who chose the EMS emphasis track can work in hospitals or fire stations as a paramedic, remote rescue technician, or administrator, Nuclear Medicine Technology-track students are eligible for careers in hospitals and clinics running CT scans and preparing and administering nuclear chemical compounds. With additional education at the graduate level, careers as advanced health educators, professors, administrators, and researchers are also possible.
