The Psychiatric Technician Program enables the student to gain the knowledge of basic nursing skills, mental health principles and psychodynamics that contribute to the student's comprehension and understanding of the mentally disordered and/or developmentally disabled client.<br><br>The Psychiatric Technician Program is approved by the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT).<br><br>Completion of coursework leads to an Associate in Science degree. The Psychiatric Technology Program will prepare students to take the California State Licensure Examination for Psychiatric Technicians. Additional general education courses needed for completion of the Degree requirements are listed in the Mt. San Antonio College Catalog, but are not required to qualify the student for the California State Board Examination.
