The Practical Nursing Program is designed to prepare the graduate to provide nursing care in structured health care settings for clients of all ages who have well defined health problems with predictable outcomes. Emphasis is placed on the ability to make sound judgments based on critical thinking skills, the knowledge of scientific principles, and the ability to use technical skills in a variety of settings. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN) to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).<br><br>Student Learning Outcomes<br>Provide safe, quality, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care to restore, promote, and maintain physical and mental health throughout the lifespan in a variety of healthcare settings.<br>Apply the process of clinical judgment to make patient-centered care decisions supported by the best current evidence.<br>Participate in quality improvement processes to continuously improve the quality and safety of healthcare systems and its practice.<br>Demonstrate collaboration and teamwork within the interdisciplinary team, the patient, and the patient's support persons to enhance patient satisfaction, healthcare outcomes, and shared decision-making.<br>Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for one's own nursing practice consistent with established legal, ethical, and professional standards.
