The Nursing Department offers a dual degree curriculum, accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), leading to an Associate in Science Degree (A.S.) and accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and awarding of the Bachelor in Science Nursing (B.S.N.) degree. Upon completion of the fifth semester in the Multi-Award degree program, the student is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination – (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse. If successful, in semester six through eight, students will complete their nursing education and be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing through SUNY Empire State College. The goal of our program is to prepare pre-licensed RN students to practice safe and competent patient-centered nursing care in a variety of health settings, to optimize human health and wellness potential across the life span and be prepared for the rapidly changing health care system. It is designed to empower students with knowledge and skills that are essential in meeting the health care needs of a diverse population within our community, and to inspire in the student a sense of integrity, commitment and competence.
