Students are introduced to anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms, phonology, human development, disorders in fluency, voice, articulation, expressive and receptive language and learning and the programs and methods used to treat these disorders.Students who demonstrate academic excellence may enroll in Practices in Audiology to work alongside licensed practitioners in the university's audiology clinic. Additionally, practicum with the department's HILL Lab introduces students to the knowledge and skills necessary to work with children who have moderate to severe expressive and receptive language disorders.<br><br><br>Graduate Outcomes<br><br>Students who complete the B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Ole Miss are well-prepared for graduate studies in the field. A master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders must be earned in order to fulfill the academic and practicum requirements for certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as for state certification and licensure.
