Public health graduates are prepared to help control disease while promoting and improving the health of their communities. The major prepares public health professionals and health education specialists who work to understand community disease, particularly disease that affects border communities, and help individuals make informed decisions about lifestyle and personal health behaviors. A healthier life span, one free from chronic, disabling diseases and conditions, preventable infections and serious injury, is an obtainable goal for most individuals in the United States. Graduates of our Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Public Health Program are qualified to provide the information and skills necessary to help individuals make informed decisions about lifestyle and personal health behaviors which can play an important role in preventing and controlling many current health problems.
