Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health and illness in communities and populations. The master of public health (MPH) in epidemiology is a course-based degree that provides students with an understanding of the principles and practice of epidemiology.The goal of this program is to prepare graduates with the skills and competencies to participate in the epidemiological activities required to monitor population health and evaluate public health interventions.Graduates with an MPH in epidemiology collaborate with a wide range of public health and clinical health care practitioners, researchers, administrators and policy makers to develop, evaluate and monitor health policies, programs and practices, and to develop, conduct and evaluate surveillance programs designed to identify and address emerging health problems.Our graduates may be employed as practicing epidemiologists in a broad range of organizations such as federal and provincial public health agencies, health care organizations, private industry, and educational settings.
