There is little doubt in today's world that health promotion/disease prevention ­strategies are on nearly every national health care agenda. As a society, we have learned that a fuller measure of health, a better quality of life, is within the grasp of almost all people. The lifestyle choices a person makes today may influence that individual's health for the rest of his or her life. The undergraduate program in Community and Public Health is designed to prepare students to plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs, interventions and strategies, serve as an advocate to support healthy behaviors and healthy environments, and lead in empowering individuals, groups and communities to achieve optimal health, well-being and quality of life. More specifically, they learn to facilitate the adoption of actions which are conducive to the health of individuals, groups, or communities.
