Students on this programme are registered in DIT and TCD. The programme is designed to provide an integrated training in the science of nutrition and dietetics and its applications to human health and wellbeing both at the individual and community level. Nutrition is a branch of science devoted to the study of nutrients. It spans a broad-ranging area, overlapping with many other disciplines including biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, dietetics, medicine, communications and public health. Dietitians apply knowledge of food, nutrition and other disciplines such as biochemistry, physiology and social science to promote health, prevent disease and aid in the management of Illness.
