To apply for this course, you must have:

Honours degree (upper second-class or above) or higher level 7/MSc qualification
Minimum of two years experience in ophthalmic nursing
A satisfactory academic reference and a satisfactory clinical reference
A statement of current clinical skills in the field of ophthalmic nursing.
In addition in order to be eligible for the non-medical prescribing module, you must meet all of the following criteria:

A current professional registration with a relevant professional/statutory body (NMC)
Support from employer that you will be given 26 days to attend this module and 12 days (of 7.5 hours each) for supervised practice under the supervision of a designated medical practitioner/supervisor/assessor
Eligible Medical Practitioner who is willing to supervise you
A minimum of three years relevant work experience, you must provide evidence you have experience in the field in which you intend to prescribe
Evidence of an ability to undertake physical assessment, if you have not completed a physical assessment module at Masters level, you will be required to complete a Physical Skills booklet.
If your first language is not English, one of the following is also required:

A first degree from a UK university or an overseas institution recognised by City as providing adequate evidence of proficiency in the English language. For example, from institutions in Australia, Canada or the USA
International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) a score of 7.0 is required with no subtest scoring below 6.5
Pearson Test of English (Academic) score 72 required
TOEFL 100 overall with 24 in Writing, 20 in Listening, 19 Reading and 20 Speaking
Other evidence of proficiency in the English language, which satisfies the board of studies concerned.
