Our music program will not only give you a deep appreciation of the complexity and richness of music-from its basic rules and its range of styles to its performance-but it will also prepare you for a variety of careers. Many of our graduates pursue master's and doctoral degrees in performance, composition, musicology, music production and technology and other related fields. Others go on to become music professors, arts administrators, opera singers, cantors, orchestral musicians, composers, conductors, musical theater directors, TV and record producers, media and digital arts specialists-not to mention doctors, attorneys and teachers.<br><br>The track in musical theater performance is open to highly qualified students by audition at the end of the sophomore year. Musical theater performance students take courses in both the Music and Theater Arts departments. Courses include private voice lessons, vocal ensembles and/or musicals produced by the Theater Arts department (by audition), and performance-related electives chosen in consulatation with the musical theater performance track advisor. Musical theater performance students also present junior and senior recitals. Students interested in pursuing the musical theater performance track are highly encouraged to enroll in private lessons during their first and second years, to prepare for the performance track audition.
