Music is more than notes and sound. It is also a technical discipline, cultural artifact, and form of communication. At Brandeis, we take an integrated approach to the study of music that incorporates all these dimensions.The track in composition develops skills in composition and musical analysis through courses selected in consultation with the composition track advisor. Students apply to this track by submitting three notated pieces to the track advisor. These pieces should be one's best and most recent works. Please do not submit assignments from Music Theory courses (such as a Minuet). Students may apply more than once with different material.
