At the undergraduate level, the Shepherd School of Music offers both professional training and a broad liberal arts curriculum. Degree programs include a BA degree in music and a BMus degree in performance, composition, music history, and music theory. Acceptance into a five-year honors program leads to the simultaneous awarding of the BMus and MMus degrees. Upon completing the BA degree with a major in Music, students will be able to: Demonstrate an intermediate level of technical and musical competence in performance. Possess rudimentary skills in music theory and an understanding of how those skills are related to music performance. Acquire a fundamental understanding and appreciation of the various historical periods of music literature.
