A Bachelor of Music in jazz studies includes applied jazz lessons, courses in jazz improvisation, theory, history, arranging and composition, and pedagogy. Receive extensive jazz training on their instrument from accomplished working jazz musicians. Perform in Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra or Jazz Workshop, in addition to combos. Combos may have the opportunity to record at the end of each quarter. Have the opportunity to record and play with guest artists such as Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Jim McNeely, Clark Terry and Louie Bellson. At the DePaul School of Music, you will learn from a faculty of working, professional musicians in a collaborative, performance-focused environment. You will work with classmates and instructors who will guide you toward success in the world of music. You will grow, achieve and create great music.
