The Bachelor of Music (BMus) degree has two possible emphasis areas, instrumental and vocal. These programs attract talented and motivated undergraduate students with a passion for teaching. The curriculum is designed to establish a strong foundation in music teaching methodology and pedagogy while an intensive and meaningful performance-based course of study enhances artistry. Steeped in the notion that doing improves learning, undergraduate music education students find themselves in real-world class settings beginning in their first year, and continue these practical applications of their training throughout their course of undergraduate study.<br><br>As an undergraduate, students may pursue a four-year instrumental or vocal emphasis. Students interested in jazz (saxophone, trumpet, and trombone) can pursue a double major in Music Education and Jazz Studies (5-year program). Please note that students interested in this double major must perform a jazz and classical audition because they will receive private instruction in both areas.
