String Pedagogy offers a Master of Music degree with Emphasis in String Pedagogy. All of our pedagogy majors study privately with the outstanding UNM applied faculty, and perform in the UNM Symphony Orchestra, which enriches their education. Graduate students can also pursue a dual concentration in String Pedagogy and Instrumental Performance. The curriculum is rigorous and comprehensive. The pedagogy of Ivan Galamian, John Kendall, Paul Rolland, and Shinichi Suzuki are all studied during coursework. Interdisciplinary work includes readings in Child Development, Human Cognition, Motivation Theory, Parent Education, the Business of Running a Private Studio, and RecognizingTeaching to Individual Learning Styles. String Pedagogy can offer generous scholarships as well as graduate assistantships.
