The Pedagogy major in the School of Music develops the student's skill in both playing and teaching piano. It is a comprehensive degree program with many opportunities for valuable teaching experiences. Classes prepare future teachers to work with all levels and ages of students in both group and private settings. <br>All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition. Music faculty review auditions for acceptance into each music degree program. Students will have access to the Audra O'Neal Piano Pedagogy Library, where they can become familiar with all the newest anthologies and method books as well as historical collections of literature. Additionally, through courses and internships, students take part in the teaching of the Piano Laboratory Program, which helps elementary-age students from the community receive their first piano lessons. Graduating students have chosen diverse career paths such as operating independent studios and teaching in large music schools, elementary schools and at the college level.
