The Music Performance: Voice program is designed for students who want to prepare as performers or teachers. Society's increased interest in the arts is creating many new opportunities for professional musicians and private music teachers. If you enter this program as a freshman, you should achieve proficiency level six in your principal performance area at the time of audition, and must complete proficiency level 10 in that area to be eligible for graduation. In addition to the required proficiency level ten in voice, you must also achieve proficiency level three in piano before graduation. One year of Italian, French or German is required. Three solo upper-level recitals are required. Performance opportunities after graduation include freelancing, performing for orchestras, military, and opera organizations, and performing in the entertainment industry. Most graduates will further their education by pursuing a graduate degree(s) in music performance. Recent graduate school placements include Boston Conservatory of Music, Peabody Conservatory and University of Minnesota.
