The Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts offers a program for a limited number of talented conductors to pursue Master's degree. Successful candidates must be outstanding musicians with talent and passion for orchestral conducting. Conducting students receive plenty of podium time with the FIU Symphony Orchestra during rehearsals and concerts throughout the year. They also serve as assistants to the faculty and visiting conductors in orchestral and operatic productions. Distinguished visiting conductors in recent years include James Judd, David Effron, Jos Serebrier, Neal Varon, Eduardo Marturet and Giancarlo Guerrero.
