Our two-year program is formulated to suit your individual needs based, in part, on a diagnostic examination taken upon entering the program. A minimum of 21 hours of coursework is required, together with 12 hours of applied music, proficiency in one relevant foreign language, and a lecture recital. We also require you to participate in two or more music ensembles each semester. Each member of our faculty is dedicated to your individual success and encourages you to pursue outside engagements that will contribute to your professional development and a well-rounded education. As a student in this master’s program, you may audition for the Doctoral of Musical Arts (DMA) program at Case Western Reserve after three semesters of study. If successful, coursework already completed will count toward your DMA requirements.
