The M.F.A. in Theatre is a 60-credit, two year, full-time program, including summer sessions, and includes a core curriculum that all students will complete, as well as individual tracks in acting, playwriting, and directing. The program recognizes the reality of working in the professional theatre today, where theatre artists must be both interpreters and creators of theatrical work. The goal is to create theatre artists who can not only audition or apply for jobs in theatre, but who are empowered to create theatrical opportunities for themselves. Therefore, one year of the two-year course of study will focus on interpretive work, and the second year focuses on creating new work.
