With a degree from the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance, you will be prepared to work in the specific performance field of your choice, or you can use your training to pursue further graduate education. Oakland offers a Bachelor of Arts or Fine Arts in several degree plans. The department encompasses the fields of dance, musical theatre, theatre performance, theatre production, music education K–12, and vocal, piano and instrumental performance. Students must audition for Music, Theatre and Dance majors. The BFA in acting develops professional competency through performance, repertory and theoretical studies for students whose primary interest lies in acting and directing. Training emphasizes a variety of acting skills and offers opportunities to perform and direct.
