Designed for practitioners who already have an MA or MFA in dance, this advanced certificate allows you to complete all requirements to become eligible for initial certification as a teacher of dance in New York State, all grades (pre-K–12), without having to earn an additional master’s degree. As part of your program of study, you will complete fieldwork observing dance instruction, as well as completing two student teaching placements, in New York City schools. You’ll work with cooperating teachers who are experienced, certified dance educators to learn from their expertise. Learn more about the student teaching experience.
