Art Education is a studio-based Major program of study that professionally prepares artist-educators for creative careers as certified Visual Arts teachers. The Art Education Major combines hands-on studio art and art history instruction in the Art Department with esteemed teacher preparation in the College of Education.The Art Education Major is done in conjunction with the Madonna University Secondary Provisional Teaching Certificate Program. Because Art Education is a State of Michigan “Comprehensive Major” a teaching minor is not required.Students in the Art Education Major plus Teacher Certification Program:learn to facilitate youth development of hand-skills, imagination, and creativitybecome fully prepared to lead Art learning in elementary, middle and high schoolsdevelop extensive expertise with Visual Arts lesson planninggain technical expertise to expertly connect Arts learning with other subject areas
