In our illustration program, you will develop your artistic abilities to effectively convey visual concepts for clients in the marketplace. It's a rigorous program that emphasizes conceptual problem-solving, technical expertise, meeting deadlines, and other professional practices. We stress drawing knowledge and skill as the basis for all visual conceptualization. This is applied to both traditional and digital mediums. In our intermediate technique classes in watercolor, acrylic, digital, and oil, you will learn the fundamentals and problem-solving techniques. In your senior year, you will explore the editorial, advertising, and children's book markets before learning business skills and developing targeted portfolios for your area of interest. Students select and plan their programs in consultation with faculty advisors and are encouraged to pursue their interests and the development of skills necessary to project them in their own directions. In addition to the studio majors, the college also offers students minors within these areas.
