The course provides a rigorous and wide-ranging study of international relations, combined with a significant grounding in Journalism. It covers political theory, political history, comparative political analysis, area studies, international relations. Students will develop important skills of value to employers: the ability to analyse concepts, write well, assess published work, communicate (including making oral presentations), determine the validity of opposing points of view, and undertake independent research. You will be taught by experts in small groups. Your lecturers will also be your tutors, we don't employ graduate teaching assistants. And you will benefit from the diverse cultural experiences of the other students, who are drawn from over 80 countries. Given how much journalism is focused on politics – whether domestic or international – this is an excellent subject combination. On successful completion of the course you will have acquired an important skill-set: the practical craft of journalism with a wide-ranging and sophisticated understanding of the world about which – should you choose journalism as a career – you will report.
