As you gain competency in another language you’ll deepen your understanding of other cultures and perspectives. You will develop skills for future careers that demand leadership, teamwork, public speaking, critical thinking, research and intercultural communication. You can learn the Spanish language and study the cultures and literatures of Spain and Latin America. Spanish is spoken by more than 500 million people in more than 20 countries, and is the second most widely used language in the world. You can learn the language from beginners to advanced levels. You can also study the cultures and literatures of Spain and Latin America, including film, music and popular culture. You could use your knowledge of Spanish and Hispanic cultures for a career in translation and interpreting, tourism, journalism, business, government service, diplomacy or librarianship.
