Applied Linguistics is an increasingly relevant and influential discipline. This programme, the first of its kind at undergraduate level, will equip students to conduct language analysis in diverse critical contexts including health care communication, human-machine intelligence, educational reform, language-related policy making, forensic analysis, diagnosing and managing communication disorders, social media communication, and multilingual communities.<br>Students will scrutinise the structures and sounds of English, examine the internal processes underlying language production and comprehension, and investigate the causes and effects of language choice. The programme includes training in and experience of working with practitioners and industry partners, and students will have the opportunity to select a particular context for in-depth study and analysis. Language is a complex phenomenon; by applying statistical, computational, and scientific methods to its study, students will learn how to interrogate language samples and usage in order to extract information that is essential to understanding and addressing real world challenges.<br>Based on our stunning Singleton Park campus, in parkland overlooking Swansea Bay on the edge of the Gower Peninsula, English including Applied Linguistics and English Language is highly rated by students and employers.<br><br>Students on this course will develop excellent oral and writing skills and you will learn to present your ideas in a range of formats, along with strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.<br><br>Our graduates will enter careers in a wide range of sectors including: Speech and language therapy, Health care<br>Education and teaching
