Sports engineers design new products and/or improve and measure sports performance. The course allows you to develop the tools and techniques of product design within sports product development. This includes knowledge of the physiological response of the body when taking part in sports and using sporting equipment. This course is run by the Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management with significant input from other specialist departments. You'll develop skills in aesthetics and graphic communication alongside those in sports science, materials and manufacturing. You'll study the basics of a variety of engineering disciplines, materials, mathematics, design principles and production and management. You'll focus upon specialised design topics such as industrial design, mechatronics and computer-aided design (CAD). You can also develop your own interests through a wide range of optional classes. We encourage our students to pursue work placements during the course. Students have undertaken placements at sports companies including Berghaus and Adidas. These normally take place in the summer between Years 3 and 4 but can also be up to one year.<br>4-year course, Full time<br>Optional year abroad
