Are you looking to take your first steps into a research career The MRes is a stepping stone between undergraduate and PhD-level research, and is a good starting point for someone looking to explore a new subject area, or different academic research options. If you choose to complete a PhD programme, you'll spend your time researching a topic that contributes new knowledge to your field. You'll be trained in research skills which will be valuable in many different careers. You'll be assessed with an oral exam called a "viva voce", and you'll be asked to present your research in a thesis of up to 100,000 words.
