This is one of the only awards in the country that has been specifically designed to prepare students for work in offender management and community rehabilitation.<br>This course provides the opportunity to study traditional criminology with the additional option to specialise in penology and offender management. The prison population has doubled in size over the last twenty years and critics argue that offender management has never been so challenging.This course provides exciting new modules for people interested in the justice sector and rehabilitation, however the course offers a pathway for people with an interest in prisons and punishment, mental well-being and offender management. The course is one of the first of its kind to offer modules dedicated to mental assessment for non-mental health professionals and identifying suicide and self-harm.We provide our students with the opportunity to conduct research in prisons, engage in field trips to local prisons and enjoy teaching sessions delivered by experienced prison staff. You elect on how you can contribute to achieving a reduction in prisoner re-offending rates and contribute towards research on driving down levels of violent incidents across the entire custodial estate.
