A BALLB(Hons) conjoint allows you to complete a BA and the LLB(Hons) in less time, and with fewer points, than it would take to complete the two degrees separately. This degree develops essential skills that help students to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing, globalised society. By studying Law, you can arm yourself with a skill set that meets the high demands of many careers, inside and outside of the legal profession. You can complement your legal study with a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages. Your BALLB(Hons) study can help you to develop strong capabilities for many careers. You will develop knowledge of the law and its implications, and a sense of justice and public responsibility. Our graduates can be found practising law in New Zealand and worldwide. They’re pursuing the new opportunities opened up by developments in society, technology and business.You can take first year courses on classical mythology and ancient history. In later years there are more advanced courses on topics in warfare, religion, Egyptian language, art, gender and sexuality, political change and the lives of people in the ancient world. You have the chance to study genres like epic, tragedy, comedy, and love poetry, to explore Egyptian art and religion from a non-Western perspective, engage with the archaeology of the ancient Mediterranean world, or to meet famous figures such as Alexander the Great, or Cleopatra. You can take courses in ancient Greek, Latin or Hieroglyphics as part of your Classical Studies and Ancient History major.
