The Master of Professional Counselling is a professional entry course suited to those with an interest in counselling. This course is designed to prepare you to become a registered counsellor in settings such as community mental health, schools, health centres, workplaces and in private practice. The course is also suitable if you are already working in roles such as teaching, social work and human resources, and wish to utilise counselling skills to support and work with others. In this course you will study major approaches to counselling skills and techniques, counselling research design, statistics and program evaluation and you will also be introduced to ethical and professional issues that arise when undertaking counselling as a profession. You will complete counselling practice placements thus providing you with an opportunity to consolidate your theoretical understanding with applied learning practices.
