Candidates are required to have-
University Entrance: NCEA Level 3 (60 credits at Level 3 and 20 credits at Level 2 or higher) which must include-
14 credits at Level 3 in each of three approved subjects
as well as
Literacy - 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 5 credits in reading, 5 credits in writing
and
Numeracy - 10 credits at Level 1 or above (specified achievement standards, or unit standards 26623, 26626, 26627)
OR
A qualification or examination recognised as being equivalent to achievement of NCEA Level 3 (e.g. International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Examination)
IELTS 6.5 Academic (no lower than 6.5 in each band)

If your aim is to become a professionally qualified counsellor, this is the programme for you.<br>This programme is focused on providing you with an understanding about the legal and ethical responsibilities of being a counsellor. Learn skills in mental health, addictions and working with whnau, family and children.<br>After completing this programme, youll be able to enter the counselling profession at a beginning practitioner level.<br>Practical placements are an essential part of the programme and youll spend time working in community agencies and organisations.<br>There will be opportunities to experience counselling yourself and be involved in a group process in your first year.<br>Youll have developed the skills and professional attributes to enable you to work collaboratively within this increasingly complex and interdisciplinary sector.
