Thisprogrammeisforthosepassionateaboutsocialjusticewhowanttosupportandempowerindividuals,families,whānau,andcommunities.Studentswillgaintheskillstoprovideadviceandsupportandlearnhowtoadvocateforindividualsandgroups.Theywillhelptheircommunitiesrealisetheirfullpotentialtofunctionindependentlyandpositivelyinsociety.Thisfour-yearprogrammecombinestheoreticalknowledgewithhands-onlearning.Youwillgaintheknowledgebase,skills,andattributesrequiredtopracticeinavarietyofsocialworkfieldsandenvironmentssuchasschools,hospitals,communitygroups,orgovernmentorganisations.Studentswilldeveloptheskillsto:Promotetheprinciplesofhumanrightsandsocialjusticeandpromotesocialchange.Workcollaborativelywithotherprofessionalsinmulti-disciplinaryteams,organisations,andcommunities.Workwithindividuals,families,orwhānau,andcommunitiesfromdiverseethnic,cultural,andindigenousbackgrounds.Undertakepracticeaccordingtotheethical,legislative,andprofessionalboundaries.Workconfidentlyinabi-culturalcontextintegratingtheTreatyofWaitangiintotheirpractice.Workautonomouslyandmakeindependentjudgmentsfromawell–informedsocialworkpositionbasedonknowledgeofhumanbehaviourandsocialsystemstheories.
