Learn to provide physical and emotional support to older people to enhance their independence and wellbeing. The course will introduce you to all aspects of a support worker's role including assisting with daily activities and personal care. In the last 4 weeks of the 2nd term of study, students will undertake 120 hours full time vocational placement. Students must obtain a National Police Clearance prior to commencement of their placement at their own cost. This course covers independence and wellbeing, communication, working with diverse people, legal and ethical requirements, healthy body systems and safe work practices. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 7 core units and 6 elective units plus you must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
