课程简介

Taught in collaboration with Archaeology, this Masters in Museum Studies: Artefacts & Material Culture introduces you to the specialist skills of archaeological finds analysis and topics related to the study and care of artefact collections. Alongside practical skills, you'll develop awareness of theoretical complexities of interdisciplinary material culture studies, plus knowledge of professional issues in the management and curation of cultural materials. Glasgow's civic and university collections are some of the richest and most diverse in Europe and are of international standing. The University's own Hunterian Museum and Art gallery is the oldest public museum in Scotland and has extensive holdings covering fine art, geology, anatomy and the history of medicine. This programme will prepare you to work with archaeological collections within the museum environment. You will undertake training in artefactual analysis through shared teaching with the MSc Material Cultures and Artefact Studies programme. The opportunity to take specialist courses in Archaeology in the second semester provides an excellent basis for those wishing to undertake further research in the future. There are great opportunities for you to take practice-based courses or work placements at the museums and galleries that partner the programme.
